September Favourites!

Hey girls!

As it is now the 8th of October I feel like it is the perfect time to share my September Favourites with you all. I know it's as cliche as it gets but I cannot believe how fast September went! But now in my head, it is officially acceptable to be excited about Christmas... and that I am. Christmas is my favourite time of the year by far; snow, hot chocolate, winter clothes, bed, Christmas films... aaaah yes please!

anyway enough of my childish rambling.. onto the favourites!

Here they are in all their glory
Lets start with my skincare favourites. You may or may not know that I used to suffer from really bad acne from the age 12-17, and alongside this acne came ridiculously oily skin, so oily that I had to powder every 15 minutes. I tried countless face washes and moisturisers that claimed to mattify and rid your skin of oil but was never satisfied.. until recently. I discovered Boots Botanics skincare range. Within this glorious range is a set of  products named 'SHINE AWAY' that genuinely work... hallelujah!  I start my day by washing my face with the Mattifying Foam Face Wash that claims to 'cleanse, clarify and reduce excess oil'... and that it does! I then go onto my usual moisturiser before taking the Mattifying Gel Cream from the Botanics range. These two products combined create the perfect matte base for my makeup.

Staying on the topic off mattifying products, my current foundation is my next September favourite .Rimmel's 'Stay Matte Mousse' in the colour 100 Ivory is my ultimate holy grail foundation. It offers medium to full coverage which is the first reason why I LOVE it. But also, the mousse texture means it gives a complete matte finish which is my aim in all foundations going back to my oily skin point i made earlier. The only downside is, is the limited amount of shades. I believe that 100 is the palest shade and it isn't that pale, so for all you porcelain girls out there, this foundation may not be for you!

Another of my favourites this month, and ever is Rimmel's Stay Matte powder in the shade 001 Transparent. I SWEAR by this powder, it is my actual life saver. 9 times out of 10 it keeps me shine free all day, but if not, it is always there to rid me of that unwanted pesky oil. My next favourite goes hand in hand with the powder. I use the Bare Minerals Precision Face Brush to pat my powder onto my skin. This brush picks up the perfect amount of product and really pushes it into the skin. As it is angled it can fit into all the nooks of my face like the edges of my nose and under my eyes.

My next favourite is actually my first ever ELF purchase. I was in TK Maxx just looking round the beauty counters and stumbled across this ELF mineral blush in the shade 'PINK' (very imaginative name) at the small price of £3.99; the lovely flushed pink colour and that cheap price meant I just couldn't resist. And I am so glad I bought it because it is simply amazing!

Keeping with the bargain theme, my next favourite was just that. There is a discounted beauty shop near where I am from which I regularly visit to see if I can pick up any gems for cheaper than their RRP. And I definitely did here. I found a Becca Jewel Dust for just £4. That's right, just £4! The colour makes my brown eyes just pop! It's lovely, go get it you brown eyed girls!

Sticking on the eyeshadow theme, I have been loving the Sleek 594 eye shadow palette. It's full of blues and purples and greens, which is completely out of my comfort zone but I've not looked back since, I'm infatuated by it!

Shall we move onto lipsticks? Yes I think we shall. I have one lipstick from the 'high end' and one from the 'high street'. Now I have always loved Topshop's makeup but after discovering this lip liner and lip stick duo I love it even more. I'm unsure of the lip liners name but it is a perfect match for the lipstick 'Drive', a perfect autumnal berry colour that can be dressed down or dressed up. Either way I love it!

My second lipstick favourite is the ever so famous MAC 'Snob'. I wear this lipstick most days as it is THE perfect daytime pinky-nude colour. I find that it really flatters my skin tone and doesn't wash me out in the slightest. It isn't just for day time either, I wore it for my Sixth-Form Leavers Ball and dressed it up with my eye makeup.

And my final September Favourite is a shower gel.. weird I know but if you could smell it you would totally understand. It is the Original Source Vanilla and Raspberry scent and my word, it smells unbelievable. I actually get excited about the prospect of using it. It smells of a sweet but I can't figure out which one, so go out and buy it and let me know which sweet it smells of in the comments please! (and become obsessed with the scent too!)

That's the end of my September Favourites, I hope you enjoyed this post, and September! Have a lovely night and a lovely October!

Everyday makeup routine

Hey there!
So I thought I would show the blogging community my everyday makeup routine.

I'm really happy with my current makeup routine at the moment so I thought I would share the products with you today.

All the goodies!

So start with I use the Rimmel Stay Matte primer, I adore this range as I used to suffer from majorly oily skin and still get paranoid about that unwanted shine! The primer helps my foundation to stay in place all day long and most importantly, helps me to 'stay 'matte' all day!

Once this has settled into my skin I reach for my trusty Rimmel Stay Matte mousse foundation in Ivory. (I'm not being sponsored by Rimmel I promise!) This is literally my holy grail product; it gives full coverage with a matte finish, two things I look for in a foundation. I would highly recommend this to all you oily skinned girls!

Next step, concealer! To no surprise, I use the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in the shade 3 around my nose and on any blemishes I have... It works a treat! To cancel out my under eye circles I take the MAC Prep and Prime pen in Light Boost, this is quickly becoming a staple in my makeup routine. Once finished I set with my Rimmel Stay Matte powder in translucent.

Now to my favourite step in my routine: my brows! I use the Sleek brow kit in shade dark as I LOVE big bold brows. I really think eyebrows frame the face and should be the main feature. "Never trust anyone with bad brows" is such a true phrase! To see a full routine check out my blog post here
http://www.bloglovin.com/frame?post=3519415547&group=0&frame_type=b&blog=12957441&frame=1&click=0&user=0

I then take my Sleek Contour kit in Fair to contour my cheeks. As I have no visible cheek bones at all I contour to death! I really want to try Nars Laguna for a contour but I can't justify spending that much money when Sleek do a brilliant one for a fraction of the price!

I never ever ever miss out curling my eyelashes. I have super straight lashes so if I don't curl them mascara does nothing... Talking of mascara I swear by Maybelline The Colossal. I love how black it is and how voluminous it makes my lashes. Although I am trying out Benefits They're Real mascara and enjoying it! Let me know if you want a review/comparison?

For blush I recently discovered Topshop's powder blush in 'Dream Phone'. It's such a gorgeous plummy colour with a slight shimmer running through it. I reach for it every single day without fail. Staying on the topic of cheeks, I go back to Sleek Contour Kit and take the highlight onto the tops of my cheekbones and down my nose to create a gorgeous highlighted effect.

I now go back to my powder and set my whole face in place and to keep all the oil at bay! Finally onto lips. I moisture my lips with Carmex and wait for that to soak in before lining my lips with Rimmel's Exaggerate Lip Liner in 063 Eastend Snob. And obliviously I then grab my MAC lipstick I'm the colour Snob.. My all time favourite every day shade. I love love love how it makes my lips look and how it isn't drying at all.

And that is me done and ready to face the day!
Good lighting makes me look tanned praise daaa lord

Ta Daaaaahhh!

I hope you enjoyed this post!

Eyebrow routine

For me, my favourite part of my makeup routine is my eyebrows. I LOVE a really bold and deigned eyebrow and that is exactly what I achieve with my routine.

To start with I brush through my brows using an Eco tools eyebrow brush and comb, this ensures that all the hairs are where they are supposed to be. I then take my trusty UBU angled eyebrow brush that I have used for years to apply the product.

Sorry for the dirt! I need to clean them ASAP!
My choice of product is a powder and then a wax and I know others would use a was then a powder but I don't really like that look as much. For me, my favourite kit is the Sleek eyebrow kit in dark; it gives the defined look I go for and is super easy to work with.

I then apply the powder to my brows, starting off at the bottom of my brows and following the shape through. Repeating the same process but on the top, I start to create the arch of my brows and then going onto fill in the rest of my brows. By doing this method it creates a defined, arched look and really makes your makeup look.

After the powder product I go ahead and follow the shape of my brows with the wax just to set everything in place.

After my brow routine is done, I go ahead and contour, apply mascara, blusher, highlight and lipstick and finish off with my trusty powder and I'm good to go.

Finished Look!

Hope you enjoyed this post, and I've converted you to love big bold brows! Let me know what you think in the comments!

Sleek purple eye look

With my usual eye looks I tend to stay safe and do boring neutral looks as I know my browns and golds will never fail me.

So last night I decided to brave a purple eye and to my and I'm sure your surprise I was actually pleased with how it turned out.

I carried out my usual makeup routine (let me know if you want a blog post on that?!) before priming my eyes with my urban decay eye primer. Then taking my Sleek 594 eye palette I applied the lightest pink to the inner area of my eye and built it up to achieve a bolder colour.

From the same palette, I patted on the darkest pink colour to the middle of my lid using a flat square eye brush, again building the colour up. This shade is really gorgeous! Perhaps a dupe for MAC cranberry.

Again from the Sleek palette, and the same brush as the pink, I took the purple shade to my outer corner and slightly through the crease. Now for me, this shade wasn't as intense as I was hoping so I found my Becca Jewel Dust in the shade Mazikeen. I'd never used this pigment before so now was the perfect opportunity. You only need the smallest amount on your brush to create a really bold, bright look. I applied it over the top of the purple colour and again through the crease.

To finish off I took my blending brush and blended the whole eye look to get rid of any sharp edges. Then, taking a small brush I applied my sleek highlighter from the contour kit to the inner corner of my eye and my brow bone.

I LOVED this look! Don't be scared of purples again!

MAC lipstick dupes

So recently I finally gave in and purchased MAC's ever so famous Russian Red lipstick. As I had ever so high expectations of this product my excitement levels were at an all time high after purchasing it.. (Especially since it was with a gift card and not my own money!)

So off we went ready to start our new romance together. OBVIOUSLY, the first thing I did when we arrived home was try out Russian Red to see if it lived up to the hype.. And it definitely did! My teeth looked glistening white and my confidence was through the roof.

Anyway, back to the point of this blog post. As I was putting the lipstick in my makeup storage I noticed that I already had a red lipstick that was almost identical to MAC's Russian Red. Loreal number 461 to be precise.

To see if my suspicions were right I tried both on to see if they looked the same on the lips.. And they really did.

MAC lipsticks sell for around £15 whereas Loreal sell for about £8! So if you're looking for a great
dupe for MAC's Russian Red, definitely check out Loreal's 461 for a fraction of the price!

HONEY I'M HOOOMMEEE

Hey my lovelies.

I just wanted to come back and apologise for my absence recently, my life has been a whirlwind of occurrences these past few months.

Firstly, I passed my A-Levels that I studied hard for with 3 B's. I was over the moon as it meant I gained my place at university.
before result night celebrations took over!
Moving to university was an adventure in itself as you can all probably guess or even relate to. So I hope you can all forgive me for my absence and welcome me back.

So to conclude, after the busy period in my life, I can promise you that I am back for good!

Cranberry

I'm definitely last on the blogging bandwagon with this one, but I thought I'd do a post about one of my favourite MAC eyeshadows... you know it, Cranberry.
It's the most amazing colour, I really enjoy pairing this with Maybelline pomegranate colour tattoo to give it a bit more something. But it looks amazing on its own too!

As per with mac products, the pigment is incredible, and I don't know if it's just me but I find that there is no fall out at all- which is an added bonus!

What I like most about this eye shadow is the flexibility of it. I wear it during the day just for a subtle pop of colour- and to bring it my plain old brown eyes- but I also build it up and add other shades in my crease and outer corners for more of a smokey night time look. Either way it looks fab!

If you haven't already or you're looking to buy a more 'unusual' colour eye shadow, I definitely recommend buying this one! At £12.50 it is more expensive than a high street eye shadow but I would 100% say it is worth it!

Welcome!

Hi!
So maybe I should start by introducing my little self to the BIG blogger community. I'm Hannah and I'm new to this whole blogging thing (so please be nice!)
This is me!

I started this blog because my obsession with all things fashion and beauty is growing each day- not helped by the YouTube videos I watch and the blogs I read on a daily basis may I add! So I thought, blow it, make a blog yourself and you can justify all the money you spend on research? Or maybe that's just an excuse for me to keep spending my money on makeup and clothes, oh well.

But yes, this is my start of the blogging journey, and I hope a lot of you will follow me on my way!
